Marcel made his debut Irish appearence at POGO last September and churned out a hefty bag of the current wave of the Berlin underground. Marcel's name only really emerged on the international scene in mid 2008 but already by the end of the year he was in 12th position on Resident Advisor's World Top 100 DJs poll! While his international diary is growing by the month, Marcel #1 home is in Berlin’s hedonistic Berghain club where he holds a montly residency (and frequently performs 6hr sets) and last summer released the Berghain 02 compilation.
He also run his own label MDR (Marcel Dettmann Records) with booming releases from himself & fellow Berghainer Norman Nodge, as well as releasing on the club’s own in-house label OstGut-ton. His Dawning & Scenerio EPs on OstGut-ton which he produced alongside Ben Klock were very much POGO anthems in 2008. His productions have a very distinct feel & sound – a basic, stripped back, booming, hypnotic & at times eerie techno sound, a style which has very much become the signature sound of the club and the DJs/ Producers who play there. Furthermore Marcel also works in Berlin's techno mecca the Hard Wax store, allowing him to slip in all the latest & rarest techno cuts into his box.
